Just as I'm like, "I'm comfy and loving this!" The jungle is like, "HAHAHAHA you don't have control over anything!"
This theme keeps coming up so consistently here. I don't have any control over what happens to me, all I can control is how I respond.
And sometimes that means crying on the floor, AND THAT'S NORMAL!
Going through all of these tough things doesn't mean I have to be strong, push through them or even find the positivity in them. Sometimes things are really hard, and they suck to go through. That's valid, normal and totally okay.
The more you accept things as they are, FEEL the feelings and then do what you need to do to comfort yourself, the faster you'll move through the tough experiences.
When you fight them, and avoid them, pretending that you can 'overcome' them, they will only draw out longer and fight back against you.
Surrender. Go with the flow. Let life move through you and feel all of the many things that are.
I'm sure I will continue learning this lesson over and over again, both in Costa Rica and in all my future travels. And that's okay.
Be gentle with yourself, just like you would a friend or a loved one. Speak to yourself with kindness and let life be.
I recently stumbled across a reel on Instagram that talked about being in your body and feeling your emotions. This all ties together.
We distract ourselves so frequently, that we forget we are alive and have a body. Come back to your body, stop avoiding the hard feelings and listen to what life is telling you.
What are you trying to cover up, emotionally, by distracting yourself and trying to control every little piece of your life that you can? There's something there that's begging you to listen.
Slow down. Tune in. Listen. Feel. Process. Be.
It's all happening for a reason. Trust.
