As I procrastinate writing my first piece for my blog, I stumble across a folder with some old family photos! Ah, the perfect place to distract myself from the fear of failure that comes with starting anything new.
I’m scrolling, and my heart is filled with joy, reliving all the crazy times my family has had. My sister-in-law and I are particularly close. She always listens, truly judgement free, and holds space for me and all that I am.
I take a photo, of the photo, and send it to her. She responds, almost immediately.
“Crazy! I was just thinking about you! So weird.”
Her and I, we’ve had more than a few, ramble-until-4am, conversations about all the crazy experiences of life. One that often comes up, more and more as she sees it too, is the synchronicities.
To simplify the definition, I turned to ye ol’ unreliable, Wikipedia. However, fret not, the definition is legit, it just sounds nicer than the complex jargon that is the ‘official definition’.
None the less, a synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence; events that have no casual relationship yet seem to be significantly related.
Ok, so now we know the definition and have a specific example, but why on earth does it matter? Why does it matter that we have these moments of being in sync? What are we in sync with?
My answer? Our intuition that leads us on our own personal life path. - whether it’s already planned for us or not, take no mind to that. -Instead look deeper and see what these moments of alignment could be telling us.
When we are being true to ourselves, playing this part the way that feels natural to our soul and listening to our intuitions, we are on our life path. The universe is giving us little check in points.
“Hey, you are doing just fine, keep on going.” These can come in the form of synchronicities. Your divine timing, lining up with someone else’s, or universal energy.
It also brings our attention to the present moment. If we notice the small synchronicities, that means we must be slowing down, and noticing the intricate pieces that make up this existence.
Another synchronicity, even you most likely have experienced many times, is in the numbers. Numbers are all around us constantly, but rarely do we notice them for more than tracking the time, counting money, or collecting other data. But we can also tune into their deeper messages, if we want to believe them that is!
For example, my favorite number is 4 and whenever I see it in any way repeating, I think about what I’m doing with my life, in general or in that moment. And I almost always realize that my actions as of late would feel good, right, and aligned with my soul purpose. Whenever I am not being honest with my feelings about a circumstance, I don’t see repeating numbers, or the other many synchronicities I often encounter. I use synchronicities as a tool to help keep myself focused and present, living each moment for what it is.
The past doesn’t exist, the future doesn’t exist. All we have is the present moment, the here and now. So slow down, and look at the leaves rustling in the trees, you might see your late grandmothers’ favorite bird fly by, saying hello for her. Pay attention, and listen to the words in new songs, you might get a confirmation about a difficult decision. Drop into the moment, and notice the small things, that’s what life is about. Its about living now.
This was a small intro into how I view and utilize these synchronicities. I plan on writing much more! For the time being, I hope you found the information helpful and thought provoking. Sending you love and light always. You are so loved! Thanks for checking in, be well. Aho!
